The primary aim of Conroi de Bohon is to recreate a unit of Norman soldiers in the year 1066AD, taking part in William’s invasion of England and the battle of Hastings. These soldiers formed the backbone of William’s army when he invaded England. The men we portray are wealthy or at the least backed by wealth, are of noble birth and train frequently as individuals in the weapons of war and also as a conroi, learning to fight as a drilled unit. As such they are well equipped and well trained professional soldiers, possibly the best in Europe.
The secondary aim is to portray the extended ‘family’ of the Conroi, ie. the families, the clergy and the tradespeople associated with the Conroi.
